These are all signs of Imposter Syndrome.
But, don't worry, you're not alone.
It's hard to stay positive when we see what seems like an endless stream of bad news, layoffs, endless job searches, feeling like we're falling behind, or just plain tired of building things for other people.
The doubt starts to creep in. We feel a little bit of imposter syndrome coming on, and we think, "I should do...something."
But, do what though? Right?
Do you have that list of ideas building up in your notes app? But, you keep saying, "one day I'm gonna build something for myself."
Then you get "busy."
Or maybe it's, "I should reach out to Tim for a proper catchup." But you never quite get around to making that call or sending that text. Or that email just sits in drafts.
We all WANT to do better for ourselves.
We want more control over our careers and our lives, but we just kinda get stuck on autopilot.
And, sometimes we just need a little kick in the pants and a helping hand to get up and start moving.
You found this page, so you're definitely in the right place.
I was feeling a little bit of imposter syndrome lately myself. So, I sat down and started doing some thinking. I looked back on the all the cool things I've done, the fun times, the hard times, the things that make me happy and the things that give me energy.
I turned these five short exercises into a simple sprint that will hopefully help someone else.
It's worked for me. And I think it can work for you too.
And if you’re thinking "this is just another one of those cringey and tired resume polishing/personal branding things"…it absolutely is not.
So, what is it?
